Dear volunteers
Samedi du Partage
As you may know, twice a year in Geneva over 70 supermarkets participate in a very special event called Samedi du Partage during which over 350 tonnes of food is collected to feed the hungry of the community. Serve the City normally provides about 50 volunteers across the Friday afternoon and the Saturday to serve in five different stores. This year’s first collection is happening on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 May.
We would like to gauge the interest of STC volunteers for this project in late May, so if there is a good chance you might help out on one of the two days, please sign up now. If we reach 50 volunteers quickly, we will then offer to help in more stores. Each store will disappear from the sign-up list as it fills up, but you can always sign up for the “Use me where needed” option. When signing up for a Saturday shift, please indicate your time preference (8am-12pm, 12-3pm, or 3-6pm).
This year we will be participating on Friday 24 May at Migros Meyrin (6 people, from 3-7.30pm) and
on Saturday 25 May at Aldi Chêne-Bourg (2 per shift), Aldi Petit-Lancy (4), Coop Grand-Saconnex (2) and Migros Meyrin (8).
Sorting clothes to be given away
Carrefour-Rue runs a clothes shop called Aboudaby that gives donated clothes to disadvantaged people in Geneva. They are looking for six volunteers to help sort clothes on Saturday 4 May from 9am to 12pm at Aboudaby, 154 Rte. de Malagnou. Coffee and tea will be provided. For more information, see https://www.carrefour-rue.ch/cr.php?p=acti&s=aboudaby”. Sign up on the Current Activities page.
Serve the City thanks you for your service to the community!!
