Dear volunteers,

A couple of new projects have come up for Serve the City.

There are two sorting centers, one in Thonex, the other in Satigny. There are two shifts: from 9 to 13 hours, and from 14 to 18 hours. Mo to Fr. Please indicate dates and shifts of interest in comments below. More information and addresses will be provided when you signup. – the Satigny Center is located at Route des Moulières 10, First Floor – door/suite G11 – you may ask for one of the two people responsible there: Viktoriya +41.79.728.7868 or Mario +41.79.303.1855 – Satigny Center is under-staffed.

The Soup Kitchen across from the train station needs a paint job. We are looking for about 6 painters on the weekend of 26 and 27 March. Jardin de Montbrillant, Rue de Montbrillant 3, Genève. Indicate day(s) of interest in comments below. More details will be available when you signup.

For a while we are still looking for sandwich makers Mondays and Tuesdays. There are more people opting to take-away the meal than to sit in. Sandwiches delivered by STCG volunteers are greatly helping out. “The CR team was really not prepared to see so many come to get the meal and we ran out of food. Luckily we had the sandwiches to hand out. “

And yes we are still supporting creating food packets for some 5,000 of the cities people who have be hurt economically from the Covid pandemic.

Do help.. and thanks. The STC team.

Serve The City Newsletter – Carrefour Rue needs your help

This coming Thursday morning we could use some help. Carrefour Rue, who has many programs in Geneva for the marginalised community, needs our help to sort out furniture and non-garment household items. This will then be available to those needing some help. So far we have just one volunteer, and may have to cancel the activity. If you can help us on the 17th.. it would be very much appreciated.
..
And yes !, for March and perhaps more, we will still be supporting Partage food bags on Wed. thru Friday mornings. Also for those who are prepared to make 70 sandwiches for the homeless, you will be welcome on the team.

Many thanks for your continued support ! The Serve the City Team

Dear Partage Sorting Volunteers,   You were registered for food sorting after Samedi du Partage. This activity is coming to an end. It will still take place until Friday, February 11 (last day).   If you wish to continue to support us in our voluntary missions, you can register without further ado for the preparation of shopping bags offered on our STC signup website.
It would be a big help if you would sign-out of the event..so I know your received this message. It would save me a phone call.   Merci   Thanking you for your commitment, best regards.

January Newsletter

Serve the City Geneva

Newsletters January 2022

Dear STC team,

We have been doing a great deal of work for the past two years under COVID.

Our teams have been very well protected from catching the virus during any of our events. And the volunteers have been very careful to sign-out of the event if they were in any way not feeling completely safe. We had some fantastic work done by many during the Christmas season and many people were served.

But now the good news/ bad news:

The Samedi du Partage food collection event was amazing!!  Around 250 tons of food and household supplies were donated by the generosity of the shoppers during that Friday and Saturday. The bad news is we estimate that it will take another 6 weeks to sort all the goods to make them available to those in need. So we are asking for your help. Serve the City has pledged sorting support 2 days a week through the end of February. Please get your families & friends (+16 years of age), your fellowship groups, any of your contacts. Basic Covid protocols are followed, mask, sprays, and distancing. We have chosen a variety of week days in hope we can find at least one that suits you.

We have 10 different sign-up dates on our website. If you sign up for more that 5 days, register for the 1st day then put your other dates in the comments (trying to help you not having to signup 10 times ;o). And thanks for signing out of the event if you are not feeling well.

Dates are: 17, 24 January & 1, 3, 9, 11, 16, 18, 22 & 24 February

On Saturday, 22 January, we have an event at the BioPark in Bellevue. We are putting together a team to help prepare for some new Meerkats to the zoo. Families welcome.
