Help needed for Voix Libres

Dear volunteers,

We have a call from Voix Libres who could use a little help this Thursday and Friday morning to move some cartons of Quinoa.
On this Thursday we need 3 strong volunteers to move the cartons into a truck, at 3:30 (15:30h) in the afternoon.
Then Friday morning at 6:30 (yes 6:30 in the morning) to help deliver the packages to Migros! They need only 1 more for this project.
A couple hours of time is anticipated.. but a great help to the orphans and Single moms of Bolivia who benefit from the delivery.

Please sign up here if you are able to help

FYI:

Quinoa is a grain crop that is grown for its edible seeds. It’s pronounced KEEN-wah. It technically isn’t a cereal grain, but a pseudo-cereal. In other words, it is basically a seed.

Many thanks ! The STC team.

PS: We still have dates open for the sorting of the partage goods. These goods were collected last November for the needy of Geneva and need to be sorted for distribution. Do see if you could be available for this project.

Christmas holidays are coming soon. This is the opportunity for you to give your time by helping people in need by preparing a dinner for 40 people during the holiday season from December 20, 2019 to January 5, 2020. Knowing that on December 24, 25 and 31, 2019 a special meal for the holidays is already prepared.
Here is the address :
Armée du Salut / Accueil de Nuit
Chemin de Galiffe 4
1201 Genève
We would like to encourage groups of 3 people to prepare the meal at their home because the kitchen at the Night Reception is small for cooking. We will also ask you to prepare, deliver, serve, wash and clean. The reason we do not ask more than 3 people for each night is that the dining area is small.   Here is the procedure to register:
1. Register on the STC website until 18 December ( http://ServeTheCityGeneva.ch )
2. Decide on a date and call the Salvation Army Volunteer Coordinator, Sergio Vintem at 077 / 459.29.01 from Monday to Friday from 8am to 5.30pm and those until December 19th, 2019 at the latest.
3. STC is willing to cover the expenses and will provide up to CHF 200 for each team registering on our website. You only need to keep your receipts   4. Enjoy the experience and feel free to register.I

Holiday Newsletter

Dear volunteers,

Many thanks to all who participated in the Partage food collection this November.
The collection was under new management this year and they had their quota of problems.
STC had 3 stores who were booked to take Friday volunteers and were sent home.
We had stores where people showed up to volunteer who were not with STC.
But all in all it was a VERY productive day, and we captured a lot of products for Partage.

We still have a big Christmas Party planned for the Handicapped kids over at Clair Bois.

This is a wonderful time to help entertain the kids (and their care givers). Parents too will be part of the festivities. We are providing entertainment and a DJ for the event! STC will be hosting by serving the drinks, the food goodies. setup/clean-up, decorations etc. Do come and be a part of this Great event. We still need about 6 more helpers

Complete details of options will be provided to you upon signing up.. If you don’t see an option that suits you or you have date conflicts you can also sign-out of the event so we can find replacements.

Event: Wednesday, December 11th 2019: 10h30 to 18h (with breaks). Setup on the 10th.

In the New Year we have a couple of opportunities to help sort the collected food from Partage.

We are looking for 10 volunteers Monday & Tuesday 6 & 7 Jan. from 8am to noon

and again Monday 20 Jan. & Friday 24 Jan.,

Do join the fun.. (Did we say fun!?) Oh well try it, you may like it..!

Serve The City Needs YOU

Greetings volunteers,

If you haven’t signed up for the Partage food collection this coming weekend (Fri. 22 Nov. & Sat. 23 Nov.), please do so. We still need 9 helpers on Friday and 5 on Saturday. But I must say.. We have a fantastic 63 signups at the moment, who have agreed to help to collect food for the needy of Geneva!! Just a few more to fulfil our STC commitment..

However, we are very short on helpers for the Christmas party for the handicapped kids of Clair Bois.
We have a couple of entertainers for the party but need logistical help setting up, serving and cleaning.
It’s a great opportunity to not only support those unfortunate kids, but also their caregivers and parents.
The date is Wednesday 11 December, if your company allows public service time , this is a great opportunity.
We are looking for 30 volunteers.

Many thanks for a great year! We are so grateful for your interest and willingness to help those in our community.

The Serve the City Geneva team.
